YOU Should Make That Happen.

 – By

I wrote about this awhile back but it happened again so I thought a reminder might be in order. A lady came into my office last week and said, “You know, Miller really needs XYZ.” My response, “Yes, YOU should make that happen! What tools do you need from me to help?” She looked at me really funny like it’s my responsibility to do everything in town that people bring to me.

Here’s the truth. Our responsibility at On Hand Development is to maintain and assist in the expansion of existing businesses and support the growth of new businesses while striving to improve the economy of the Miller area. Megan, the board, and myself can’t do every project that comes our way. We have our strategic plan set just for that reason. I can help anyone with resources for projects in our area, but if it’s your idea and you want to see it happen… make it happen! I know you can.

Every time I thought, ‘You know, somebody should do that,’ I usually realize that somebody is me. We are often the somebody we’re waiting for. When we have ideas, we have to remember that we have the power to make things happen. An idea or a plan doesn’t have to come from the Miller Civic and Commerce, On Hand Development, or any other group in town… it can come from YOU. You have the ability to make things happen. Quit waiting for somebody else to show up and do it—they’re likely not coming and your big idea may never happen.

Just think if everyone in our community came up with one idea to make Hand County Thrive and followed thru with them? What kind of opportunities would we have right here in our community?  I can think of lots people who are making their big idea happen- A light show in Crystal Park, Hands of Hope, Helping Hands, a business with fresh, local beef, and so many more. These ideas have taken off and made our community better because one person had an idea and made it happen. Yes, we might have helped along the way, but it was that one person who made it happen!

So… What do you want to see happen in YOUR community? Come in and see me if you need some help getting started. I can help you with all kinds of resources to make that idea become a reality. I am excited to hear what bubbles up.
